This easy, creamy Green Grasshopper Mocktail is non-alcoholic version of the famous Grasshopper drink (cocktail). Made with white chocolate and mint flavors, it's a fun drink for kids and the perfect way to celebrate St. Patrick's Day!
Add boiling hot water and white chocolate mix to a medium bowl and whisk until powder is dissolved into water. *I find this is the easiest and least messy way. However, if you prefer, you can do this right in the glass (diving equally between the glasses).
6 tablespoon white hot chocolate mix, 6 tablespoon boiling water
Add milk, cream, extracts and whisk together.
1 ½ cups half and half cream, 1 cup 1 % milk, ½ teaspoon almond extract, ½ teaspoon peppermint extract
Add food coloring until you get the color you desire. *You will notice I added more food coloring when I made this drink for the process shots, compared to how much I added when I made the drink for the final images.
1 teaspoon green food coloring
Add the mixture to a large pourable measuring cup (or use a funnel) and pour the mixture into the glasses.
Pour to about ¼-1/2 inch below the glass rim. Add ice if desired. *If you are using spray whipped cream in a can leave a 1-1 ½ inch gap. **If you are adding ice, leave 2-3 inches
Garnish
Garnish with whipped cream and fresh mint
whipped cream, fresh mint leaves
Notes
Expert Recipe Tips:
Use Very Hot Water. When dissolving the white hot chocolate mix, ensure the water is very hot to fully dissolve the powder. This prevents any grainy texture in the drink.
Chill Your Glasses. For an extra refreshing experience, chill your milkshake glasses in the freezer for 10–15 minutes before serving.
Use Gel Food Coloring for Best Results. Gel food coloring provides a more vibrant green color with less product compared to liquid food coloring. Wilton Kelly Green is the ideal color for this recipe.
Blend for a Creamier Texture. For a smooth and frothy texture, mix all ingredients in a blender for a few seconds before serving. This adds a light and airy quality to the drink.
Make It a Frozen Treat. Turn this into a frozen mint chocolate mocktail by blending it with 1 cup of ice for a slushy consistency.
Whipped Cream for the Win. For the best presentation and taste, add whipped cream just before serving so it stays fluffy and fresh.
Make a Big Batch for Parties. Hosting a party? You can easily double or triple the recipe. Store it in a large juice jug in the fridge and stir before serving.
Variation: Grasshopper Drink with ice cream (non-alcoholic):
Blend the original mocktail ingredients with 1-2 cups of vanilla ice cream and a handful of ice until thick and creamy.
This will create a frozen, creamy slushie version of the mocktail.
Pour into glasses and garnish as desired.
Storage:Â You'll want to store this drink in the fridge in juice jug (affiliate link) for up to 4 days.
