This unique and healthy Grilled Greek Chicken burger recipe is made with ground chicken breast and loaded with Mediterranean flavors like feta, black olive, sundried tomatoes, and garlic, then served in a pita!

This chicken feta burger is great for grilling season and the ideal healthy grilling recipe for Father's Day. However, it's popular any time of the year, as it can be made in a skillet or in the air fryer as well. This recipe was inspired by my Award-winning Mediterranean Chicken and Wild Rice Cups on this site and is ww friendly. They pair perfectly with my Greek Yogurt Tzatziki Sauce (with fresh dill)!

"I made these last night, and I loved them. It was too hot outside to BBQ so I did them in a frying pan. I used a little bit of the oil from the sun-dried tomatoes. Delicious!" ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

🥘Ingredient Notes
For this recipe, you'll need the following burger ingredients
- Ground chicken breast * about 6 medium-sized chicken breasts (ground)If you don't have ground chicken breast and don't have a meat grinder, you can simply use a food processor to do it: How to grind chicken without a meat grinder
- Bread crumbs. Fine bread crumbs work best. You can purchase them at the grocery store or make your own in the food processor.
- Feta cheese. I use light feta to cut the calories and fat.
- Black olives (affiliate link). I use Kalamata olives because they are more traditional in Greek food, tangier, and tastier than canned black olives.
- Sundried tomatoes in oil. Although you can use rehydrated sundried tomatoes, I prefer to use the ones that come in oil in a jar, as they add a more robust flavor and moisture to the burger.
- Pita bread halves. I use Pita bread, which is traditionally used in Greek cooking, because it makes a great low-carb, healthier (lower ww points) bun substitute!
- Tzatziki sauce

📖Variations & Substitutions
- Chicken- alternatively, you could use lean ground turkey.
- Pita bread - you can use white or whole wheat pita bread (use a low-carb pita bread for lower WW points) with this recipe. Alternatively, you can use a hamburger bun, a thin bun (I like the President's Choice thin buns) or another type of bun.
- Oil- you can use any type of oil you prefer, but I use olive oil. It's easiest to brush it on the grill.
- Garlic - you could use minced garlic in a jar or garlic powder instead of fresh garlic cloves.
- Oregano - you can use fresh oregano instead of dried, but you'll need double the amount
- Sundried Tomatoes - if you don't have any sundried tomatoes, you could use red peppers. The taste will be a bit different (but still delicious)
- Fillings- I like to use tzatziki, red onion, tomatoes, and fresh mint, but you can use whatever type of filling you like, including other fresh herbs such as dill or parsley. You could also use cucumber slices and red pepper if you prefer.
Top Tip
Instead of running out to the store to buy ground chicken, you can grind your own chicken breasts! If you don't have a meat grinder attachment for your mixer, use a food processor to grind the chicken breast: How to grind chicken without a meat grinder.
🔪How to Make Greek Chicken Burgers
Prep : Preheat grill to medium (400 degrees F) and oil the grill with cooking oil

Combine chicken, oregano, salt, pepper, garlic, sun-dried tomatoes, feta cheese, black olives, and bread crumbs in a large bowl.

Stir until well combined.

Shape mixture into patties (you should get 8 burgers with this recipe)

Place patties on preheated and oiled grill and close the lid.
Grill patties over medium heat for 5 minutes.

Flip, then put the lid down again and grill for another 5 minutes or until the meat thermometer reads 165 degrees F (74 degrees C).

Remove from grill and serve immediately

Garnish with Tzatziki, red onion, tomatoes, and fresh mint, and squeeze a little lemon juice over the chicken. Or use any other fillings you prefer.
Hint: If barbecuing on an outdoor grill, let the grill run for 4-5 minutes to burn off any remnants, then clean it. I like to use this bristle-free grill brush (affiliate link) for cleaning the grill.
🥗 What to Serve with Greek Chicken Burgers (with feta)
These Greek burgers pair well with a lot of sides. I love to serve them with other Mediterranean sides such as Easy Greek rice, Greek-style roasted Potatoes, Greek Pasta Salad (shown), and this Healthy Tzatziki sauce, of course!

🍽Equipment
You will need a grill if you are grilling these Greek burgers. You can use an BBQ/outdoor grill or an indoor grill pan, a stovetop grill, or simply use a fryingpan/skillet. You could also make them in the air fryer. You'll also find an instant read thermometer (affiliate link) is ideal for checking doneness of chicken (chicken is very easy to overcook).

🌡️Storage
Store this Greek-style chicken burger in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Store the toppings separately. The pita bread can be stored in a plastic bag at room temperature.
These burgers can be frozen for up to 3 months in an airtight container.
👪 Serving Size

🔢WW Points
This recipe is Weight Watchers friendly @ 5 ww points (with regular pita and light feta, not including tzatziki sauce).
If you use a low-carb pita (like Joseph's) and fat-free feta cheese, it will bring the burger down to 4 points each.
If you use my healthy tzatziki sauce, it's only 1 ww point per 2 tbsp.

Expert Recipe Tips
- Sear the outside. For the best results, cook to an internal temperature of 165 degrees F (74 degrees C). Using an instant-read thermometer is the best way to check for doneness. ensuring they’re cooked safely without drying them out. They should still be juicy.
- Grill temperature matters: Make sure your grill is properly preheated to medium (about 400°F/204°C). A hot grill sears the outside and keeps the inside juicy.
- Use a burger press or wet hands: To keep patties uniform and prevent sticking, lightly wet your hands before shaping or use a burger press for evenly sized patties.
- Chill patties before grilling: If time allows, refrigerate the shaped patties for 15–30 minutes. This helps them hold their shape and improves flavor melding.
- Test doneness with a thermometer: Ground chicken should always be cooked to an internal temp of 165°F (74°C).
- Let them rest: Allow the burgers to rest for 2–3 minutes after grilling. This helps the juices redistribute for a more flavorful bite.
- Customize the toppings: Offer a topping bar for a fun DIY meal—try crumbled feta, cucumber ribbons, pickled red onions, fresh dill, or even a drizzle of balsamic glaze.
❔ Recipe FAQs
Chicken burgers are healthier than regular burgers, as they have less fat. They are even healthier if they are made with lean chicken breast.
Yes! You can prep the patties and refrigerate them (uncooked) for up to 24 hours before grilling. Just be sure to cover them tightly with plastic wrap or store them in an airtight container. If you want to cook them ahead, they will be good for 3 days in an airtight container in the fridge.
Absolutely. Bake the patties on a parchment-lined baking sheet at 400°F (204°C) for about 20 minutes, flipping them halfway through (at the 10-minute mark). Always check they’ve reached an internal temp of 165°F (74°C). You can also airfry them for 3 ½ - 4 minutes on each side at 375 degrees F/190 degrees C. Or cook them in a frying pan on medium-high heat for about 5 minutes on each side.
This can happen if the grill isn’t hot enough or properly oiled. Make sure to preheat your grill and brush it with oil before placing the patties down. Also, avoid flipping them too early—let them sear properly before turning.
