Mission
My mission is to share not only my recipes, cooking hacks and tips with you, but also my secrets to success! I have maintained my weight and lived the Weight Watchers program (which to me, is simply healthy eating and portion control) for over 20 years. Although I've had my bumps in the road, I don't have to fret about gaining a little weight because that's life and I know how get back on track and lose it! I want to help you to feel confident you can do this too because YOU CAN!
What's next?
If it’s your first time here, I know all of the information can be overwhelming, so I’ve created this page, as a guide, to get you started on your journey. There are currently over 350 recipes on this site (and more to come!) so let me help you find what you're looking for...
Step 1: Get to know me
I'm Terri and I started this blog 5 years ago because I was entering a lot of recipe competitions at the time, so I was constantly thinking about recipe ideas. I wanted to share those recipes and write about food. A food blog seemed like the ideal place to do both of those things. In the process, I realized that I also wanted to preserve my family’s recipes. But most importantly, I LOVE cooking, creating and sharing recipes. And I love taking many of my favorite high point and comfort foods and make them lighter, healthier and WW friendly!
I also share all of my WW friendly recipes here and show you that Weight Watchers friendly recipes can taste so amazing that no one will ever suspect they are lighter, lower calorie and/or lower fat. As I said, I'm a fan of the WW program. I'm not associated with Weight Watchers (WW) in anyway, I'm just happen to be a longtime WW member who believes in the program and their message about it being a healthy 'lifestyle' and not a diet. I've personally lived this healthy lifestyle for 20 + years.
And I EAT POUTINE ! In fact, I eat anything I want. I just eat it in moderation. (P.S. I didn't eat the whole thing 🙂 )
After I quit smoking over 20 years ago I had to change the way I ate and how I dealt with hunger. Although I grew up eating healthy, smoking was an appetite suppressant, so I would simply smoke to curb hunger and avoid eating. which in turn, helped maintain my weight. When nicotine no longer ruled my life, my metabolism slowed and although I was running regularly, the weight slowly came on. My Mom was on Weight Watchers, so naturally I turned to Weight Watchers to lose those first 35 lbs. I learned portion control and how much you can actually eat in a day and not gain weight. And although I'm mostly only counting points in my head these days, it's because I counted them on paper, on a calculator and in the app for so many years, they are seriously ingrained into my pysche 🙂 You can read about my personal Weight Watchers (WW) journey HERE.
